Sanitary faucets are among Iran’s export products to many countries. The world of these products is very broad and includes various types of faucets for restrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and more. Currently, nearly 30 different brands in Iran produce these faucets. Exporting faucets is one of the ways to generate income and bring foreign currency into the country. Various countries use Iranian faucets; therefore, there are suitable and profitable markets for Iranian traders in this field.
Sanitary faucets have a high capacity for export. Suitable markets for selling these products, along with high diversity in appearance and pricing within the country, are among the advantages of entering the sanitary faucet export sector. All commercial, administrative, and residential buildings require this important product. Developing countries in the region, such as Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Iraq, are among the main destinations for exporting various types of faucets, which we will discuss below.
To which countries are Iranian faucets exported?
Nearly 30 production units are active in the field of sanitary faucets in Iran. There are 30 different brands, each offering products with specific quality levels and prices to domestic and foreign markets. On the other hand, many of Iran’s neighboring countries are growing and developing; some of them are also undergoing reconstruction and development due to particular political and historical conditions they have experienced in recent years.
Despite all the banking and trade sanctions that have made the export of sanitary faucets and other goods difficult for Iran, this Iranian product is exported to numerous countries. Exports to Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Lebanon, as well as exports to Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Côte d’Ivoire, Libya, and even Germany, are among Iran’s profitable exports.
It is interesting to know that Germany is one of the largest exporters of faucets in the world. This country earns approximately 6.5 billion dollars annually from faucet exports. Nevertheless, Germany is one of the European buyers of high-quality Iranian faucets.
Volume of sanitary faucet exports in Iran
Iran produces an average of 20,000 tons of sanitary faucets annually. At first glance, this figure seems large and represents a good share for each Iranian producer; however, in reality, Iran’s exports in the faucet sector are far below the true potential of the existing production units in the country.
Although Iranian faucets are exported to most neighboring countries, the purchasing volume of these countries is much higher than the amount exported from Iran. Countries such as Pakistan, Iraq, Qatar, and Oman import around 2 billion dollars’ worth of sanitary faucets annually. Iran’s share of this amount is very small. China, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Mexico are among the largest exporters of faucets in the world.
Various factors contribute to the low level of Iran’s sanitary faucet exports. Weak design, inappropriate packaging, lack of branding and proper advertising, and various banking and trade sanctions are among the reasons Iran has not achieved its real position in this market.
How to export sanitary faucets
To be successful in the export sector, you must have a thorough understanding of the intended export product and be aware of the regulations and challenges of this field. Below, we share the general process of exporting sanitary faucets.
Choosing the best market
Every product has its own specific market. Selecting a suitable and profitable market that allows for long-term export is one of the main responsibilities of faucet exporters and exporters of other goods. Currently, given Iran’s particular political conditions, regional markets are more profitable and involve fewer complications.
You should select several markets and calculate their export regulations, methods of receiving payments, shipping procedures, customs regulations, and your profit margin. After that, you can choose the best market to start your activity. A trader who exports faucets without understanding the market will face failure and financial loss.
Choosing the source of supply
If you are not a producer of sanitary faucets, you must become familiar with the producers in this field and the conditions for purchasing from them. Negotiate with sellers of different brands and inquire about their supply capacity and product prices. Ultimately, you will have a list of sellers and producers that you can use for export purposes.
Receiving orders
International advertising and sending sales personnel to market the product in the target market are among the main stages of exporting faucets and many other goods. Buyers usually have good knowledge of products; therefore, they trust a trader who sells them goods with reasonable prices and high quality.
Contract execution
After reaching initial agreements regarding the quantity of goods, quality and brand, delivery time, payment method, shipping method, and so on, it is time to conclude a formal contract. All of these items are mentioned in the contract, and the trade takes on an official form.
Preparation and packaging of faucets
Export packaging is one of the important stages in exporting sanitary faucets. When exporting goods outside Iran, packaging is one of the factors that should be considered for branding the product in the destination country. Buyers usually pay special attention to packaging, and it influences their decision to engage in future cooperation. The packaging method is usually carried out according to the buyer’s opinion, and ensuring its quality is the responsibility of the exporter.
Obtaining permits and submitting documents
Exporting faucets requires obtaining various permits and submitting documents at each stage. An experienced trader knows which permits must be obtained and from where at each stage of exporting goods. The packing list, inspection certificate, business card, faucet insurance invoice, and clearance document are among the documents and permits required for exporting sanitary faucets.
Shipping the goods
After declaring the goods to customs and while preparing the documents and permits, you must conclude a contract with a transportation company to ship the faucets. Finally, after receiving the customs clearance document, the loading and shipment of the goods begin. If you intend to enter the profitable field of faucet exports, you must increase your knowledge in this area. Consulting experienced and trustworthy individuals is one of the most important steps on this path. Activity in this field involves many challenges, but in return, it yields significant profits.
Comparison of Iran’s faucet exports with the world’s largest exporters
When discussing the largest importers and exporters of a product, China’s name usually appears on the list. China is the largest exporter of sanitary faucets in the world. This country earns about 10 billion dollars annually from exporting sanitary faucets. This amount is more than 15 percent of Iran’s oil export revenue, earned solely from exporting various types of sanitary faucets.
The United States, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and Italy are among the other major faucet exporters in the world. Each of these countries earns between 2 and 7 billion dollars annually from exporting sanitary faucets.
Iran’s annual exports of various types of sanitary faucets amount to less than 30 million dollars. Considering the above statistics, Iran’s exports in this sector are very weak and negligible. Given the good capacities that exist in this market, higher revenue can be generated from it.
Export potential of Iranian faucets
By looking at the list of countries importing sanitary faucets, we realize that countries in the region have very high import volumes. Most of these imports come from Europe, China, Japan, and the United States. Given Iran’s good relations with neighboring countries, increasing production volume can bring significant profits to the country.
Greater efforts by producers to improve quality, diversify products, and provide appropriate packaging are among the ways to attract foreign buyers. Faucet exports also require suitable infrastructure, which officials need to take action to provide.
